Listen to this month’s tennis psychology podcast to learn how to improve your performance in tennis and other mental game barriers that limit your performance.
“There are really two separate issues here you are dealing with. One is the issue of emotions between points.
This is really common for tennis juniors at this age to get upset with themselves. The more perfectionist she is, the tougher it will be for her to control her emotions.
We find that the profile of the emotional player, the one that gets frustrated easily, upset, down, angry, cries, is a player with very high expectations, wants to perform perfectly, and worries about what others think about her performance. She doesn’t want to let you down or let her coach down. So there is a specific profile we see that is very akin to the perfectionist that tends to have trouble controlling their emotions.”
